EXTERIOR GRAND ENTRY OF OUR BLUE BEAR ESTATE HOME

An Adirondack style lodge, Blue Bear Camp is situated on an ultra-private parcel of land bordering the Nantahala National Forest with the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River running through it. The home was designed to take advantage of the spectacular waterfall and bold stream that wraps around two sides of the home. Views of Whiteside Mountain and the rock formation known as Devil’s Courthouse can be seen in the distance from inside the home.  It is conveniently located minutes from downtown Cashiers, North Carolina and live music concerts, upscale shopping, antique hunting and dining.  Hiking, fly fishing, biking, skiing and golf are all available nearby.

The style of the home is reminiscent of great camps built in the early 1900’s. Dark stained pine logs with warm golden chinking, high pine board and batten chair rail and paneling, old reclaimed wax rubbed heart pine floors, Tennessee fieldstone walls, and mission style trim throughout make the home warm and inviting. A sense of returning to a bygone era is felt when you enter the grand foyer with sweeping circular log staircase, a masterpiece of engineering and construction.

Natural materials such as white birch bark, mountain laurel, slate, fieldstone, natural shed antlers and pine logs were used throughout the home. Many details in the home, such as the birch bark wall panels, custom furniture and mirrors were built by local craftsmen on site just as in the old Adirondack camps of the past.

The home has 8,516 sq. ft. of living space with a total of 11,516 sq. ft. consisting of garages, patios, covered porches and balconies. The variety of rooms in the three story home includes a gathering room & kitchen, sunroom, library, main laundry room, 3 guest bedrooms, a master suit, 8 ½ bathrooms, artist’s studio or hobby room, game room & entertainment kitchen, wine cellar, home theater, and fitness room with sauna and steam room. Separate areas for guests include a guest lounge, laundry & kitchenette. Although the home is spacious, the scale of the rooms and the warmth of the wood give it a welcoming feeling of an old lodge. A site as awe inspiring as this one demanded a unique home which blended perfectly with the environment. That goal was accomplished at Blue Bear Camp.
